Dave Arland

President

With more than 20 years experience in the consumer electronics industry, Dave Arland is respected by both editors and listeners as a knowledgeable resource.

A native Hoosier, Dave graduated from Butler University in 1985 with a degree in Radio & Television. He spent three years on-air at WIBC and WIRE Radio before being named Press Secretary to four-term Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut. After a wealth of city government and national association experience, Dave joined Thomson/RCA in 1991.

At Thomson, Dave moved up through the ranks to be named Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing. He led the public relations efforts to introduce mp3 music players, high-definition TV, and e-book readers to consumers throughout the U.S. and Europe. He also served as the company’s voice in Washington, testifying twice before Congress and helping staff of the Federal Communications Commission understand complex digital technology developments.

In 2008, he started Arland Communications and has helped consumer companies, broadcasters, and trade associations reach new audiences with the help of a dedicated team and key partners.

His frequent “Dave The Gadget Guy” appearances on WIBC FM 93.1 in Indianapolis help listeners decode the alphabet soup of tech industry changes.

Dave volunteers as Master Steward educator for Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, is a passionate STAR TREK fan, and is on the board of WFYI Public TV. He is married with one daughter. Dave and his wife are musicians at Holy Spirit Catholic Church near Indianapolis.

Joshua Phelps

Creative Director

Joshua is a 2013 graduate of Butler University with degrees in Business Marketing and Digital Media Productions, with business experience interning with the Indianapolis Colts, CEBEX Group (Beijing, China), and founding his own firm, Vizulize Design, LLC (Acquired by Arland Communications in 2014).

Born and raised in southern Indiana, Joshua found a love for the outdoors and athletics.  While in college, he also played lacrosse for Butler University, in the MCLA (a national organization of non-NCAA, men’s college lacrosse programs).

Joshua started with Arland Communications in 2013 as the Digital Media Project Manager, coordinating the firm’s capabilities in video production, graphic design, photography, and web development.

In July of 2014, Joshua moved into the Director of Creative Services position, where he is now the lead on projects relating to video production and design. Acting as the Director of Photography at shoots across the US, Joshua manages video crews, as well as acting as videographer as needed. In addition to this role, Joshua is responsible for post production, including editing, motion graphics, color grading, and sound design.

In his spare time, Joshua continues his passion for videography, working on personal projects and acquiring new gear along the way (4K cameras, quadcopters, and more…).  A somewhat seasoned world traveler, Joshua has lived and traveled in Asia and South America, with no plans to stop there.  He plans to visit at least 100 countries in his lifetime (13/100 so far).

Nicole Wilson

Video Editor & Production Coordinator

Nicole Wilson graduated from Ball State University in 2015 with degrees from the Honors College and College of Communications, Information, and Media in Telecommunications with a specialty in digital video production.

In 2013, she was given the opportunity to create her first film and produce an Emmy-nominated documentary about responsible pet ownership and animal shelter reform. In 2014, she moved to New York City for eight months to intern for the music department of Saturday Night Live and for the production and development departments of Optomen Productions Inc., which produces television docuseries such as Mysteries at the Museum. She finished producing her second short film titled Stand in 2015, which highlights the dangers of domestic abuse.

Nicole started working with Arland Communications as an intern in 2014, which quickly turned into freelancing all across the country as a videographer and editor for them in 2015.

In October 2015, Nicole began working full-time for Arland Communications as Video Editor and Production Coordinator, where she is now working with the Creative Services team to create high quality video content. She coordinates and manages video production shoots and acts as videographer and post-production editor for shoots all over the US.

In her free time, Nicole loves to read and travel. She is in the process of collecting her own private library, and already owns upwards of 150 books. She has traveled to cities all across the US and Haiti and plans to continue (though New York City is her favorite to date). One day soon, she hopes to cross the pond and finally visit Europe for the first time.
