Trained as a journalist and later municipal Press Secretary for the Mayor of the City of Indianapolis, Dave Arland also spent 16 years in media relations and marketing at RCA/Thomson Electronics at the advent of digital consumer electronics. His extensive background in media relations helped RCA, LG, DIRECTV, DISH, Panasonic, and others promote new technologies like digital TV, digital audio, DVD, digital satellite, and new products and technologies in renewable energy.

From the first demonstrations of digital TV on Capitol Hill in the early 1990’s to today’s emergency communications and advanced television matters, Dave Arland is a trusted ally adept at simplifying complex technology issues for policymakers.
With a background in city government and experience lobbying in state legislatures, federal agencies, and the U.S. Congress, Dave Arland has twice testified before the House Energy & Commerce Committee on digital TV matters and is a respected expert on the concerns local radio and TV broadcasters. Whether in a Congressional office, at the Federal Communications Commission, or before a local or state lawmaker, Arland is best at making convincing arguments for companies – including one multi-year Washington effort that saved a TV manufacturer $5 million in tariff costs.

Association Management
Today, Arland Communications runs the Indiana Broadcasters Association, returning the organization to solid financial footing and operating an organization to advocate, educate, and celebrate the “best in broadcasting” for the 250-member broadcasting trade association.
Dave Arland is also the past president of the National Alliance of State Broadcasters Associations, whose membership serves thousands of radio and TV broadcasters throughout the USA.

The ArlandCom team has more than 30 years of experience with a wide range of trade show and conference planning, including dozens of events and exhibits staged in Las Vegas at the annual CES and NAB Shows as well as annual meetings, private VIP briefings, press conferences, and other functions staged at facilities throughout the country.

Dave Arland is a lifelong Hoosier (from Indiana), graduating from Greenfield-Central HS and from Butler University with a degree in Radio/Television. Dave worked as a radio journalist for two Indianapolis stations before being tapped as Press Secretary to four-term Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut. Representing municipal interests in his work with the National League of Cities and U.S. Conference of Mayors, he honed his skills at influencing policymakers. At Thomson/RCA, he testified twice before the House Energy & Commerce Committee regarding the digital television transition, in his role managing Congressional and FCC relationships. In 2007, he started Arland Communications to serve clients interested in reaching audiences and influencing public opinion. Today, he serves as Executive Director of the Indiana Broadcasters Association. Dave is a pianist and church organist, an original series “Star Trek” fan, and owns two vintage Studebakers – which, like Dave, were also made in Indiana!

Mickaela joined the ArlandCom Team in December 2022. With an educational background in forensic, clinical, and behavioral psychology, Mickaela has now set her sights on the communications field! She is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Psychology and a degree in Law & Society; and then went on to get her Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. From experience in therapy, customer/member services, accounting, stenography, and more, Mickaela brings a plethora of skills and a thorough, wholistic approach to everything she does. She lives in Noblesville, IN with her fiancé, cat, and very vocal husky.
